Located in Michigan City, Indiana, the Barker Mansion used to be the home of one of the local millionaires, John Barker Sr., and family. He created the Haskell & Barker Railroad Car Co. It was built in 1857, a couple years before Barker Sr. retired and passed the company to his son, John H. Barker.

The elaborate 38-room mansion was owned by the Barker family until Catherine Barker donated the property to the city. It features Victorian architecture, a fine example of what some folks call ?gracious living?.

The Barker Mansion is now open year round for public tours and bookings for weddings and other events. Most people also say that visiting the attraction around the Christmas holidays add more fun and magic to the trip as the house is decked with various festive decorations for the season.
