Indiana World War Memorial Plaza is a Historic District found in downtown Indianapolis that was built to honor the bravery of World War heroes, Hoosier veterans and the United States Armed Forces and is also home to the headquarters of the American Legion.

Indiana World War Memorial Plaza is comprised of two museums, three parks, monuments, statues and fountains. Found at the north end is the American Legion Mall that houses the Legion?s administration offices and has a memorial commemorative plaque while south of that is the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Standing at the heart of the district is the Indiana War Memorial Museum that features a Shrine Room that was made to represent Peace and Unity in the state and the whole world, by using materials found all over the world.

Also found in Indiana World War Memorial Plaza are the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum with the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on top made of gray oolitic limestone, standing 284 feet and six inches high, the University Park decorated with statues and a five layer fountain, and the USS Indianapolis Memorial built to remember the sinking of the cruiser ship USS Indianapolis in 1945.
