Also known as the Fourth Street Elevator, the Fenelon Place Elevator claims to be the shortest and steepest funicular railway in the world. It is located in Dubuque, Iowa, climbing a steep hill by the end of Fenelon Place.

Originally built in 1882 for the private use of JK Graves, who was a former mayor and state senator of Dubuque, who also lived on the top of the hill and maintains an office by the foot of the bluffs, the Fenelon Place Elevator was modeled after the railways in the Swiss Alps. It has been rebuilt a couple of times in the past, but was maintained magnificently.

Today, visitors can take the Fenelon Place Elevator for $2 per person per round trip.
