The Jordan House stands today as a restored Victorian Mansion that used to be the residence of the founder of Valley Junction, James Jordan. The structure served as a station on the Underground Railroad in the 1850?s and early 1960?s. It is now a museum for the City of West Des Moines and an office for the Historical Society. It boasts of 16 period rooms that provide a wonderful backdrop for the display of its collection of antique treasures that depict the city?s rich heritage.

The Jordan House is a Victorian structure that makes use of an Italianate Gothic design. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Place and is one of Polk County?s oldest structures and West Des Moines? oldest.
