Hobos are homeless folks that move around a lot for work. Historically, they traveled through railroads, building quite a culture for themselves.

In the year 1900, the founders of Britt, Iowa came up with the idea to host the National Hobo Convention in their town. Since then, the event was held in Britt, making it the home to the convention.

The festivities usually include live music entertainment, flea market, outdoor service, memorial service, and a parade just to name a few. People can also visit the Hobo Museum and Hobo Jungle. The coronation of the Hobo King and Queen are also some of the highlights of the event.

The National Hobo Convention is commonly held on the second week of August.
