Sundown Mountain is a resort well known for having the highest vertical drop in all of Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. It is located in Dubuque, Iowa.

Being the only receiver of the National Ski Areas Association’s Award of Excellence in the Midwest for six times, skiers are really just thrilled to see Sundown Mountain. It is a literally massive place with two lodges that are overlooking the resort, 21 downhill trails, six chair lifts, a terrain park, and a ski school that also offers programs for kids. They also boast of a 300-foot competition half pipe and a computerized race course.
