The University of Okoboji Winter Games is a school that is only invented to sponsor and support a fun filled event that would be considered as the Winter Games of the city. It is held over one weekend of the month of January and it features various winter activities. One example of this would be the broomball which is some kind of ice hockey that is done without the use of skates.

They also hold other competitions like miniature golf done on ice, races for snowmobiles, hikes done by show shoes, ice bowling, beat swims and a lot more. The entire event was just started by several local guys who formed a group and made the activity of broomball one huge deal of a tournament 30 years ago.
