The Bernhard Warkentin Homestead is an old farm in Kansas. It was built and worked on by Bernhanrd Waekentin. The property is also known as the Warkentin Farm or as the Little River Stock Farm.
The old 19th century farm became a notable site because if its historical significance in the area and all the state altogether. The farm, in a way, promoted the German-Russian Mennonite settlement around the Central Great Plains. It also contributed largely on the history of local agriculture, as he introduced Central European wheat varieties.
The Bernhard Warkentin Homestead, with its five buildings and one additional structure, has been declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1990. Some restorations are also required to further preserve the site.
