The Chaplin Nature Center is composed of walking trails that measure up to a total of five miles. It is also home to many bird species that could total up to 225. It has a visitor center that has a wide array of wildlife displays, a library, and a bird observation deck situated in the second floor of the establishment.

The center is operated by the Wichita Audubon Society who is also the owner. All its trails are open to the public 24/7. It has fresh educational exhibits ideal for group tours of students and other nature lovers. This feature recently opened in May of 2008. The modules change regularly allowing every visitor to learn something new each and every time. It can also be a rental place for various events.
