The Elk City State Park has features that attract tourists and guests local, and foreign. It has a reservoir that offers exquisite opportunities for fishing white bass, catfish, crappie, flathead, and channel catfish.

The Elk City State Park has a wildlife collection that gives the guests a rare chance to see the different exotic animals like wild turkey, bobwhite quail, white-tailed deer, coyote, gray squirrel, prairie chicken, mink, fox, muskrat and opossum.

The Elk City State Park incites visitors to view a variety of flora and fauna. The hikers who finish the Green Thumb Nature Trail find a magnificent view of the lake. The Table Mound Hiking Trail leads to a spot overlooking the dam. Post Oak Nature Trail leads to the dam. South Squaw Multipurpose Trail is a trail accessible to the handicapped.

The Elk City State Park has 2 bike trails, namely - The Eagle Rock Mountain Bike Trail and the South Squaw Bike Trail. The Elk River Hiking Trail is a trail outside The Elk City State Park that start at the dam and commences near abridge on the Elk River. The Elk City State Park offers a campground in the Timber Road.
