The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson, KS is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute and suggests several ways to tour their facilities.

For those only able to spend an hour or less in Cosmosphere, Kansas, a basic museum tour would be most appropriate. You’ll be able to see the first ballistic missiles (V1 and V2) ever created and understand how it works. You’ll also see Sputniks 1 & 2, the spacecraft responsible for taking the first living creature – a dog – out in space. Other museum exhibits include the Titan rocket, which stands 109 feet tall, the Redstone Nuclear Warhead, and a spacecraft belonging to the Vostok space program of Russia.

If you have more time to spend in the Hutchinson Kansas space center, be sure to also check out its planetarium, IMAX theater, and Dr. Goddard’s Lab.
