After its last tour way back in 1964, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum opened its door again to the public. Although there is no mention of a mine, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum is one abundant rock salt mine and it takes an elevator ride to reach the core of the museum. Travelling several hundreds of feet underground, visitors are treated to a tour of the different chambers and regularly stop in the various exhibits featured in the museum. This is all made possible through a tram powered by electricity called the Dark Ride. Excellently preserved exhibits such as the realistic photo of a minor measuring the wall with a giant ruler and a more than 70-year-old car are popular among visitors.
