The Mid-America Air Museum in Liberal, Kansas houses a collection of military aircraft, civilian aircraft, and aerospace and aviation exhibits. With more than 100 of these, it is a phenomenal museum that features impressive displays of airplanes, jets, and many more.

It offers a diverse collection with items ranging from hang gliders to a Mach 2. However, the general aviation collection is the main attraction for the Museum. One of the Museum’s focal points is the Dwane Wallace collection that displays airplanes loaned by Dwane Wallace’s widow, Velma. Another feature is the prestigious collection of Col. Tom A. Thomas that boasts of 52 planes valued at $3.1 million.

The Museum displays a NASA exhibit that showcases artifacts and displays from the United States’ space agency. The other exhibits found within the museum focus on detailing the history of the Liberal Army Airfield, the Liberal native Gen. Larry Welch, the B-24 raids on Ploesti, Romania, the World War II, and many more. In the hall of science, the museum helps children understand and learn more about the principles of flight.
