From dinosaurs to mummies, from wizards to cowboys, the whole world and its amazing treasures can be found at the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita, Kansas. This three-storey museum opened on April 22, 2001. The first exhibits came from the private collection of the museum’s founder, Dr. Jon Kardatzke. The museum is housed in a reconstructed three-floor warehouse. Today, around 30 collectors have donated their objects to the museum.

The museum’s mission is to “provide a gateway to the past” that aims to educate, entertain and inspire “lifelong learning” to the public. True enough, the museum’s collections are not limited to any particular period in history or specific theme; thus the museum contains a mishmash of diverse artifacts from around the world. The museum’s popular exhibits include skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus, Egyptian mummies, Scarecrow’s pitchfork from The Wizard of Oz, and genuine cowboy memorabilia during the Frontier Age.
