“There’s no place like home.”

This quote was uttered by Dorothy in the 1939 classic movie, The Wizard of Oz. Where else can you find a museum dedicated to Oz but in Dorothy’s home state of Kansas. The Oz Museum in Wamego, Kansas was built in 2004 as a tribute to this 1900 classic children story written by L. Frank Baum.

Wizard of Oz fans can find in the museum about 25,000 collections of Oz artifacts from various sources around the world. The museum houses several memorabilia from the 1939 film starring Judy Garland. It also contains materials such as Baum’s writings, stuff from the days of silent films, and Oz-themed merchandise. Visitors can also enjoy the “Yellow Brick Road” bicycle ride, book signings and autograph sessions with the Munchkin actors from the movie.
