The Prairie Dog State Park is a state park and recreation area in Norton, Kansas. It covers 1150 acres on the western region of Kansas.

The Prairie Dog State Park has a very interesting history. From the very beginning, the park was designed to be a home to prairie dogs. However, even after several attempts at introducing the species to the area, the authorities weren?t so successful. The establishment of the prairie dog colony only happened as an accident, when a pair has entered the park on their own and burrowed there. Today, the park is home to over 300 prairie dogs.

Aside from seeing prairie dogs, Prairie Dog State Park visitors can also enjoy boating, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, RVing, and picnicking.
