The Prairie Spirit Trail State Park is a state park and recreation area in Garnett, Kansas. It is mostly a trail that is open to hikers, joggers, and cyclists.
The Prairie Spirit Trail State Park traces its roots back to the 1860s when it was first built as a railroad by the Leavenworth, Lawrence, and Galveston Railroad. It is the first north to south rail line in the state of Kansas and runs 50 miles from Ottawa to Iola. The trail is asphalted within the city limits of Garnett and Ottawa, but is mostly a hard packed limestone screening surface everywhere else.
Interested parties may find it useful that the trail doesn?t require vehicle permit to use it, although, a separate trail permit is required when using t outside the city limits of Garnett and Ottawa.
