A historic site in Hodgenville, Kentucky preserves the birthplace of the most popular president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is located in 2995 Lincoln Farm Road. Inside the park is a towering memorial that contains a one-room log cabin where the president was supposedly born.

The park was established on July 17, 1916. A grand Beaux-Arts Neoclassical Building was built in 1911. The Memorial Building?s features include 16 windows, 16 ceiling rosettes, and 16 fence poles, which all represent Abraham Lincoln?s role as the 16th US President. The towering 56 steps that lead to the memorial?s entrance represents Lincoln?s age when he died. The birthplace cabin inside the memorial is a reconstructed log cabin, made from wood taken from the original cabin and logs from the Lincoln farmhouse. Around 221,111 guests visited the site in 2009.
