The American Saddlebred Museum is a historic museum dedicated to the history and heritage of the American Saddlebred horse. The museum is located inside the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky and has been considered by many as the ?Showplace for Saddlebreds.?

The park features different exhibits that focus on the role that the American Saddlebred played throughout American history. The museum also showcases the evolution of the horse breed from its early start to the versatile and beautiful horse breed that it is now. There are also different special exhibits making each visit a unique experience for tourists.

The museum also holds the biggest number of artifacts related to the Saddlebred horse. The artifacts that guests can check include trophies, artworks, photographs and even an extensive collection of Saddlebred paintings done by artist George Ford Morris.

Other exhibits which are part of the permanent exhibit for the American Saddlebred Museum include a library that features over 2,400 volumes of books listing horse breed bloodlines as well as a comprehensive genealogical research into the different breeds of Saddlebreds.

Visitors can also enjoy other attractions inside the museum including the Saddlebred Sidewalk which displays a total of 3,700 engraved bricks and the gift shop which features unique gift ideas and other Kentucky made items. In the Saddlebred Sidewalk, guests can honor loved ones by dedicating a brick through the ?Walk of Honor.? Each brick has a dimension of eight square inch ceramic tiles and will be placed at the entrance area of the museum.

The museum opens at 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day while it opens at 9:00 am to 5:00pm from September to May.
