Trainspotters and history buffs should visit the Bluegrass Railroad and Museum in Kentucky to get their dose of railroad fix.
The Bluegrass Railroad and Museum is a railroad museum located in Versailles, Kentucky. It operates in and out of the Woodford County Park. It is also a heritage railroad that features seven diesel railroad locomotives and 40 pieces of rolling stock inside its outdoor museum. The institution also offers visitors an exciting opportunity to take a trip along the six-mile historic railroad and through the plains and farms of Kentucky.
Founded in 1976 by members of the Bluegrass Railroad Club, the museum began as a small collection of local railroads and locomotives. The first storage yard was in old L&N RR Lexington, then it moved to Bluegrass Army Depot in 1988 before finally ending in Versailles, Kentucky.
