A great example of 19th century rural lifestyle, the Dinsmore Homestead today is a tourist attraction, offering tours and educational tidbits to visitors.

The historic property, the Dinsmore Homestead, was built in 1842. It was the home to James and Martha Dinsmore, who bought the 700 acres farm in 1839 and used it to grow grapes, sheep, and willow trees. These were their primary products, along with their basket-making business. One of the Dinsmore daughters, Julia Dinsmore, inherited the property in 1872. She ran the place for fifty four years.

The Dinsmore Homestead opened as a tourist attraction and memorial to the site?s rich history in 1987, after acquiring 30 acres of the original site, including the main house. It is run by the Dinsmore Homestead Foundation.
