The Ellis Park is known primarily as a race course located in Henderson, Kentucky.

The park was originally known as Dade Park and was built by the Green River Jockey Club in 1922. The park was initially named after the race starter A.B. Dade who was also a major organizer of the Green River Jockey Club. Races that were hosted in the Ellis Park Raceway are usually for Thoroughbreds but other horse breed races can also compete within the stadium. The park has been hosting races ever since the first race which happened in November 18, 1922.

The Ellis Park management and ownership was later transferred to Rockport businessman James C. Ellis in 1925 after the Jockey Club filed for bankruptcy. The transfer led to the addition of a totalisator betting system together with a terrace grandstand for spectators. In 1954 the facility was named Ellis Park.

Visitors should expect to see a total of seven furlongs and one mile chutes for the main track and a stretch that spans 1175 feet in length. The park also features one of the largest backside areas as it can hold 984 horses for a single event. The park also features a one and 1/8th dirt track together with a one mile inner turf course.

Thoroughbred races in Ellis Park begin during the 4th of July and continue all the way to Labor Day each year. The park?s stake races include Gardenia Stakes which are considered as a Grade III event.

Ellis Park guests can also enjoy world class cuisine in the park?s clubhouse which features three air-conditioned dining rooms, a great view of the track paired with a buffet table and waitress service. Guests can also choose between a smoking and a non-smoking section.
