Located behind the Kentucky State Capitol, the floral clock in Frankfort, Kentucky is another landmark to enjoy. The landmark was a joint initiative of the state government and the Garden Club of Kentucky. After its completion in May 1961, Governor Bert T. Combs was the one who dedicated it.

It was Governor Combs who started the project by putting on special funds from the contingency fund. He has seen a similar clock in Edinburgh, Scotland and thought that it would look great as a landmark on the capitol grounds. The front portion of the clock measures about 10 meters in diameter and is tilted in a 26 degree angle. The clock received some criticism both by some citizens as well as detractors of the governor after it construction. However, in the recent years it received a lot of praises from critics for beautifying the area.
