The Fort Boonesborough State Park is the location of the old Fort Boonesborough in Kentucky. The fort is especially notable for being founded by the legendary Daniel Boone, a folk hero, pioneer, frontiersman, and explorer famous for his numerous exploits, along with his men. The site is located along the banks of the Kentucky River.
Fort Boonesborough was established around 1775, along with their founding of the Boonesborough European American settlement, which became the second oldest area of the sort in the state. It also saw much American Revolutionary War action in 1778, being the site of the American Indian attack, now known as ?The Great Siege?.
The Fort Boonesborough State Park is now open all year long, and features tours and demonstrations.
