The Harland Sanders Caf? and Museum is the very site where today?s Kentucky Fried Chicken was invented and first served. It was where Harland Sanders concocted his secret recipe for his fried chicken in the 1940s.

Located initially across the street from its site today, the original ?restaurant? was Sanders? dining room. This is where he served travelers meals. He then built the Sanders Caf? in 1937, which seated 142 people. The original site was destroyed by fire, so the owner built another one in 1939 across the street. However, due to the developments that prevented the site from seeing more people, the site was sold in 1956.

The original caf? was reacquired, restored, and reopened in 1990. It is now the Harland Sanders Caf? and Museum.
