The John Roebling Suspension Bridge, originally known as the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge, was built in the mid-1800s and was the longest suspension bridge in the world upon its opening in 1867. It measures 1057 feet in length and is primarily used by light vehicles and pedestrians today to cross the Ohio River.

The construction of the John Roebling Suspension Bridge was not an easy process. As the river required a really long span of structure, the state was not really sure about how well it could go and the steamboat operators protested against it. The local climate, financial constraints, and the Civil War also affected the process.

However, after everything, the John Roebling Suspension Bridge still came through. It was renamed in honor of its designer and builder, John Roebling in 1983. It is also a National Historic Landmark and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
