As Kentucky is famous for, the Keeneland Race Course is a thoroughbred horse racing facility as well as a sales complex located in the city of Lexington. It is operated by the Keeneland Association Inc. and is famous for its reference library that has a great number of volumes and publications about horse racing. Keeneland was rated as the number 1 race track in the USA in 2009 when the Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system.
This race track was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1986 as well as listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Keeneland ensures that it maintains racing traditions; in fact, it is the last track in the US to use the traditional public-address system when broadcasting race calls. Most of the scenes in the movie Seabiscuit were shot in this race track.
