Kentucky Coal Museum can be located in an old building built by International Harvester in the 1920s. There are 4 floors of exhibits involving mining and the life of coal miners during the 1900s. All artifacts, antiques, photographs, and machinery that can be found in the museum can make up about a total of 30 exhibits.

One of the exhibits featured in the museum is Key Ingredients: America by food which an exploration of various food traditions in America. The museum also features The Loretta Lyn Exhibit which is located in the third floor of the museum. The exhibit showcases Loretta Lynn?s personal collections and captures the famous singer in different stages of her life. Another exhibit in which the museum is popular at is the Mock Underground Mine exhibit. It?s a short walking tour on coal corridors with vivid sounds and videos from modern mines.

The museum also has a floor plan of an underground call mine which displays activities on various parts. There is a 1940?s model electric locomotive that visitors can sit in and take a picture with. There is also a two-ton block coal outside the museum.
