Kentucky may be known for a lot of things but not caves, which is a pity considering how it?s home to one of the biggest cave openings in the Eastern US. There are a surprisingly diverse number of things to do at the site, but of course its main attraction would always be its acclaimed underground boat tour of the caves and surrounding blue holes. The tour is offered through the year and tour participants are strongly recommended to wear sturdy shoes to enjoy the entire tour in complete comfort. The tour starts off with a twenty-minute walking tour under the competent eye of a narrator/guide. From there, participants then proceed to the highly anticipated cave boat tour, which takes about 25 minutes to complete. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy self-guided tours of the site?s blue hole trails and, if you visit during the right season, the butterfly habitat as well.

Also available at the site are bird watching tours as well as fun and educational mining activities for kids at the Lost River Mining Area.
