The Louisville Science Center offers a science literacy campaign that aims to encourage exploration of science in the everyday lives of the people. The Center boasts of a rich history, starting from its founding in 1871 in the Public Library System of Kentucky as a ?cabinet of curiosities? up to the time it became established as the leading resource center for informal science education in the region.

The Center features an Egyptian mummy as well as a mineral collection reaching up to 16,000 pieces. Housing about 150 interactive exhibits and activity stations, it has also become Kentucky?s largest hands-on science center.
