The Old Bardstown Village is an historic village that consists of several historic buildings and museums including the American Civil War Museum located in Bardstown, Kentucky. The building that houses the museum spans a total of 8.500 square feet and has received renovations from the state of Kentucky that amount to $450,000. The museum is also the fourth largest Civil War Museum within the United States and the only museum in the States that is dedicated to pay tribute to the women of the Civil War which started in 1999.

The Old Bardstown Village also features different artifacts from the Civil War including clothes, paintings and personal effects. The village also features the historic Wright Talbott House. The historic home is a unique tourist attraction for visitors because it focuses solely on the War of the Western States. The different stories from the Western War are told through geographical and chronological segments. Visitors who enter the museum are led through different exhibits including artifacts from both sides of the Civil War.

The museum features the flag from the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry, a silver flask given to Confederate General John C. Breckinridge shortly after joining the Confederate Army, the presentation sword of Confederate Brigadier General Lloyd Tilghman . Other artifacts include specific rooms for different classes in the war including the infantry room, cavalry and naval artillery room. Visitors can also look at the one pounder smoothbore cannon created in Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond, Virginia as well as 12 pound mountain Howitzer which belonged to Eli Lily?s 18th Indiana artillery.

Other attractions include the Pioneer Village which is a reproduction of a colonial village complete with original cabins that date back to 1776 up to 1820 built together with a nearby American Indian museum. The village also has the War memorial of Mid America which details the mid-American soldier?s role in the past wars.
