The Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History is a science museum located in Owensboro, Kentucky. The museum was founded in 1966 and has been known to house different artifacts including the building itself which dates back to the 19th century to the early 20th century. This historical museum offers a family friendly entertainment experience with their vast and diverse exhibits.

The museum has a total of five permanent exhibits and one temporary exhibit gallery. The permanent galleries include the SpeedZeum, the Coal Mine Gallery, the Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center, ENCOUNTER hand-on and the Owensboro Rotary PlayZuem.

The Owensboro Rotary PlayZeum was created and established by the Owensboro Rotary Club and debuted in November, 2005. It is a playground for children 10 and below which also helps in terms of education. The play exhibits feature themed environments based on the local landscape and the history. Some of the activities that await kids in this exhibit include a riverboat, a working train station with moving train, several tree houses, crawl tubes and bridges.

The Speedzium is a gallery focused specifically to motorsport as well as the local racing history including smaller exhibits dedicated to racing athletes from Owensboro and from the whole state of Kentucky. Encounter is the first ?edu-tainment? exhibit in Kentucky; the exhibit is also known as a ?hands-on, minds-on? gallery where different things can be done and scene. Guests can tell stories inside the puppet theater leave their mark through ?permanent? image in the shadow room or create a magnet bridge and even learn the science behind the Bernoulli Effect.

The Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History is open from 10AM to 8PM during Mondays while on Tuesdays through Saturdays it stays open from 10AM to 5PM.
