The Schmidt Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia is a result of Bill and Jan Schmidt?s passion for collecting Coca-Cola antiques. They first collected items from the company to use as office decorations. In 1976, their collection grew immensely and began filling not just small spaces but large warehouses. It was also during this time that a space in the bottling plant of Coca-Cola dedicated an area only for the memorabilia that were collected by the Schmidts. Twenty five years later, in 1999, the Museum was shut down as a result of a change in the safety regulations of the State. In 2001, the Museum reopened but this time in the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Center in Mulberry. The fancy Museum exhibits more than a thousand antiques and now has reached over 80,000. In 2005, the Schmidt Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia transferred to a new warehouse facility located at Buffalo Creek Drive, Elizabethtown.
