The White Hall State Historic Site is a historic site and state park in Richmond, Kentucky. It is commonly referred to as a historical treasure, being a former dwelling to highly esteemed individuals.

White Hall State Historic Site traces its roots back to 1798 when the original house, known as Clermont, was built. It was constructed by the American Revolutionary War and War of 1812 General Green Clay and was actually where Cassius Marcellus Clay was born. Cassius Clay is best known for being an emancipationist, politician, Ambassador to Russia, and newspaper publisher as well as friend to Abraham Lincoln. It became White Hall in the 1860s when the house was rebuilt by Cassius Clay’s wife, Mary Jane Clay. This was also where Clay’s daughter, Laura, known for being a women’s and states’ rights activist and first woman to be ever nominated for US Presidency by a major political party was born.
