The Bayou Segnette State Park is a state park and recreation area in Westwego, Louisiana. It is located thirty minutes out of New Orleans, across the Mississippi River.

Despite being situated near the urban center of New Orleans, the Bayou Segnette State Park has an access to two types of wetlands: swamp and marsh. This makes the site a remarkable natural habitat for various animal and plant life. Visitors can catch a glimpse of coypu, Virginia opossum, American alligators, raccoons, American mink, red-tailed hawks, northern cardinals, bald eagles, red-winged blackbirds, and nine-banded armadillos at the site.

As for recreation, visitors of the Bayou Segnette State Park can enjoy boating, camping, RVing, fishing, birding, and swamp walks at the park. There’s also a wave pool and swimming pool found at the site.
