Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Houmas House Plantation and Gardens is one of the most exquisitely restored grand mansions in the South. It is one of the best places in Louisiana to visit if you?re looking for a way to enjoy more than a glimpse of how life in the 1800?s was lived and what took place in a bustling sugar plantation.

All rooms of the plantation may be freely explored by guests and each room displays its own interesting set of artworks and antiques. The plantation also has two in-house restaurants, one that?s located right inside the mansion while the other, Latil?s Landing Restaurant, is housed in the 1775 French House. The latter restaurant made it to Esquire Magazine?s Top 20 Restaurants in the U.S.
