Built by the Stern family, the Longue Vue House and Gardens is one of the best known landmarks in New Orleans. It features a three-story, 20-room mansion. It is complete with four facades with a different garden on each, making the estate a place to see for most Louisiana tourists.
Originally constructed in 1939, today?s Longue Vue is actually the second building on the site. The first one was built in 1924, but when the landscape and gardens were created, the family decided to re-do their home to take full advantage of the estate.
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark, tours are offered to visitors of Longue Vue House and Gardens every hour during regular operations.
