The Los Isleņos Museum, established in 1980, is house in a traditional Louisiana brick between posts Creole cottage that was built by Vicente Nuņez de Villavicencio in 1840.
The Museum houses six rooms, which includes a kitchen and a bathroom. By using historic imagery and 3 dimensional items, the exhibits in 2 rooms that face the Bayou Terre-aux-Boeufs are able to depict the history of the Canary Islands, which is the site for the settlement of Isleņo colonists in the city. The exhibits also depict the cultural evolution of the Isleņo descendants in this region and their adaptation process in their new environment.
Today, the Los Isleņos Heritage and Cultural Society, which is behind the Museum, works to rebuild the Museum complex, that also includes the Ducros Library as well as the Esteves House.
