The New Orleans Museum of Art is among the top 25 percent of the country’s 140 largest and most significant art museums. IT offers exhibitions and programs that help achieve the cultivation, promotion, and inspiration for the fine arts.

The Museum began with an inaugural exhibit in 1911. It featured only 400 works and piece back then. Today, the current permanent collection has increased to 40,000 objects that are collectively known for their extraordinary strengths in French and American art, glass, photography, African and Japanese art. It also boasts of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture garden that is now becoming a cultural destination for locals and other visitors. IT features 50 modern and contemporary sculpture presented in a 5-acre natural setting.
