Modeled after the White House, the Old Governor?s Mansion is actually dubbed as ?Louisiana?s White House?. It was built on the site of the old official residence for Louisiana governors in 1929. The old one got infested with termites, thus the replacement.

The Old Governor?s Mansion that the public know today was officially used from 1930 to 1961. The construction amounted to $150,000, with an addition of $22,000 for furnishing. It was then abandoned as a new mansion was created in 1963.

The Old Governor?s Mansion now serves as a historic house museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Rentals for weddings and other events are also offered, and it has seriously became a popular venue for such celebrations recently.
