The Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center is a museum that helps relive the history of the place during the ancient war periods. It has a Civil War Room that gives emphasis to the role of the city as the capital of the Confederate Louisiana. It also is subsequently serving as the federal post while being a military depot too.

It also houses the Geraldine Smith Welch Doll Collection that has about 400 dolls in total. The primary exhibit room of the museum talks about history, business, culture and others elements of the ancient lifestyle in Opelausas. It also serves as repository for resources and materials which are all connected to the music festival of the southwestern part of Louisiana. You can get to write or contact the museum administration for future appointments.
