This supposedly ?haunted? house was built in 1887, and was originally established as the McMahon & Sons Funeral Home. After the house was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, on July 2, 2007, the funeral home was purchased by Jeff Borne, owner of PSX Worldwide Audiovisual Technologies, and was turned into the Mortuary Haunted House. It is labeled by the Discovery Channel Studios as one of the world?s scariest attractions.

The haunted house is surrounded by some of New Orlean?s above-ground tombs, and during the Halloween season, people from different places visit the mansion to have their own experience of both terror and excitement. According to the people behind the Mortuary Haunted House, if you are not screaming from fear, then maybe you?re dead already.

Interestingly, the Mortuary Haunted House gives VIP passes to people who give blood to the city?s bloodmobile every year.
