The Eagle Island is a historic site, public park, and recreation area in Casco Bay, Maine. It is best noted for its association with Admiral Robert Preary.

Admiral Preary is best known for being one of the first group of humans to have ever set foot on the northernmost point in the North Pole. Preary, alongside Matthew Henson and four Inuit natives took on the challenge of traveling to the North Pole and planting the American flag there. The Eagle Island is actually Preary’s retirement home. His descendants still live in the house that he built in the island, but the land was already a property of the state of Maine after it was given as a gift to the people of Maine.
