Potato is a vital product of Fort Fairfield, Maine, which is why it isn?t surprising that locals celebrate the crop through their annual Potato Blossom Festival. This huge and popular event is held every third week of July.
The very first Potato Blossom Festival was held in 1937. It involves a series of several events like the Main Potato Blossom Queen Pageant, mashed potato wrestling, Potato Blossom Car Show, Annual Antique Tractor Pull, pet shows, and the stunning firework display over the Aroostook River just to name a few.
The surprising thing about the Potato Blossom Festival is that, even if it is held in a small town with only about 4000 residents, it still manages to attract more visitors compared to the annual parade at Portland, Maine.
