The Skowhegan History House is a well maintained 1839 brick cottage that is adorned with antiques and other period furnishings. Its museum is able to illustrate the history of Skowhegan through a fine Civil War display.
There are also a thousand items in the museum that will enable its visitors to take a look at the past. These include tools, garments, simple machines, books, maps, dishes, pictures, military toys, dolls, early pottery, furniture, a period kitchen, and other household furnishings. It also enables visitors to take a look at one of the fine historic homes in the area.
The museum is open from June to September, from Tuesday to Friday. There is an admission fee of $1 for children and $2 for adults.
