The Vaughan Woods State Park is a state park and recreation area in South Berwick, Maine. It boats of scenic location and a rich natural environment.

The Vaughan Woods State Park actually has a pretty interesting history. It is situated on an area known as the ?oldfields? since the colonial times. In 1785, Jonathan Hamilton built his estate in the area, a remainder of which is the Hamilton House that folks can find within the park. The Vaughan Woods wasn?t as thickly forested then until Emily Tyson and daughter Elizabeth Vaughan got the property and grew the woods as it is known today.

Visitors of the Vaughan Woods State Park can easily enjoy hiking through the trails that allows exploration of the woods, as well as horseback riding, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. The Hamilton House is also open seasonally.
