The Annapolis Maritime Museum serves as a bridge for its visitors, residents, and students to the unique maritime heritage of Annapolis as well as to the Chesapeake Bay. It operates from the shores of Back Creek, giving it a view of Chesapeake Bay. It is the site of the McNasby Oyster Company building, the only remaining oyster packing plant in its area. It has also served as a venue for educational activities, maritime, seminars, concerts, and other events.

With permanent and rotating exhibits, the Museum is the only institution that tells the Maritime story of its area while bringing its history to life for the understanding of residents and other visitors. It is dedicated to teaching through experiences and inspiration from examples that are hands-on, live, or modern.
