The Assateague State Park is the only ocean park that is located on the island by the same name. All of its visitors enjoy a wide range of water activities like surfing, beachcombing, swimming, fishing and even camping. It has an ocean beach that is made up of two miles and it also serves as home to a wide range of wildlife that is located in the marsh areas of the place.

It is the only recognized oceanfront park of the state. The island where it is in is known to be a barrier island that is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Sinepuxent Bay right on the west. It also has a bayside that renders visitors a great opportunity to explore its isolated coves.
