The Fire Museum of Maryland opened as a private and non-profit corporation in 1971. IT ranks as on of the United States’ finest firefighting museums. Among its displays are apparatus from 1806 to 1957.

The Fire Museum also offers educational opportunities as it is an educational institution. Visitors to the museum can gain more knowledge about the history of firefighting, antique fire apparatus, how they were used, and other related artifacts and memorabilia. The Museum’s broad range of exhibits also showcase more than 50 rigs, a working fire alarm telegraph system, Baltimore High’s Pressure Pumping System, and a badge and uniform display.

The Museum also complements these exhibits with audio-visual programs and videos that narrate the history of firefighting, fire prevention techniques, as well as the 1904 Baltimore Fire.
