It is 11 days of nothing but racing and raging festivities! The Maryland State Fair is the official yearly fair for the state of Maryland. Celebrations start in late August and ends around Labor Day. The fair is held at Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The grounds are located at the intersection of the roads Timonium and York.

These festivities began in 1878 as Lutherville Fair. It moved to its present location in Timonium in 1879 and conducted from September 9 to 12. In 1906, the Maryland State Fair became official after the merging of the Lutherville Fair and Pimlico Fair. The fair?s main event is the Timonium Horse race. This Thoroughbred Racing began in the 1970s as a way to generate interest and pump up the attendance. It became a massive success and has been the fair?s main attraction since then.
